Storylines: Writing a Better Story for Women
When we look at the life of Jesus we see a beautiful picture of God’s heart toward women. Against a cultural backdrop of inequality, where the religious law treated women as second-rate citizens with no legal rights or access to education, Jesus lived out a radical countercultural message that valued, championed, empowered and brought freedom and redemption for women in his day.
It is devastating, though, that many women have not experienced this in many parts of their lives or for some women in any part of their life. Women have been mistreated both inside and outside of the church, with the recent stories filling our news feeds being just a small glimpse of the pain and suffering experienced by women around the world.
Is it possible to write a better story for women? We believe it is.
We want to open up an evening to begin these conversations and learn together what it would take to build communities that we believe Jesus envisioned. We want to create a context to listen, share stories and learn together as we seek to follow Christ’s example and be a people that embody honour, justice and freedom for all.
Join us on the 16th June from 8-9.30pm on Zoom where we will create space for women and men to listen and share stories related to this topic. The evening will start with some time all together before breaking into small groups providing an opportunity to share stories or just listen and learn from others.
