God
We believe in one true God who lives eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The word often used is ‘Trinity’, which is not a word from the bible, but sums up the description of God we find there.
Deut 6:4; Isaiah 43: 10-11; Matt 28:19; Luke 3:22; 2 Corin 13:14"
Son
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal son of God. In human form, he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary: true God and true man, yet without sin. We are made right with God (justified) through His death and resurrection, and this is our only way to salvation. He ascended to heaven and is at the right hand of the Father above every other power and authority. He represents us to God and God to us.
Luke 1:35; John 1:2,14; Acts 1:9-10,4:12; Romans 4:25; 1 Sorin 15:3-4; Eph 1:7,20-21; Heb 4:14, 7:25; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 2:1
Church
We believe in the church as the body of Christ. One universal Church represented on earth by many different local churches. This Church is called to bring the life, power, love, character and authority of God into people’s lives.
1 Cor 1:2; Eph 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 4:4-6, 5:22-32, 1 Peter 2:5-10
Sin
We believe Man was created in the image of God, into a perfect world. However, he sinned and it brought about physical death and spiritual death - separation from God. Everyone is born with a sinful nature, and sins in things they think, say and do. Life doesn’t end when we die, we will all face judgment before God, and we all need a saviour.
Gen 1: 26-27; Rom 3:23, 5:14; Eph 2:1-3; Matt 25:45; John 5:28; Rev 20: 11-15
Father
We believe in God the Father, the Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. He is perfect in love, in holiness, wisdom and judgement: perfect in every way. The bible says that while not inferior, the Son and the Spirit proceed from the Father.
Gen 1:1, 17:1, Isaiah 5:16, 6:3, 43:15; Matt 11:25; John 6:57, 8:42, 14:16-17
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who is with the Church forever, teaching and guiding in all truth. He leads us all in service of the world and Church. He gives spiritual gifts to every follower of Jesus, for the good of the whole body of Christ. Every believer has the Holy Spirit living in them, supernaturally empowering them, and confirming life in Christ and eternity with God.
John 1:16; 14:26, 16:7-11; Acts 1:8, 10:19-20, 16:6-7, 1 Cor 3:16, 12:4-11; 2 Cor 1:22; Eph 1:13-14, 4:11-12, 4:30
Bible
We believe in the 66 books of the Old and New Testament (canonised and commonly recognised), as inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings. They are the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
1 Thess 2:13, 2 Tim 3:16, Pet 1:19-21
Salvation
Jesus died so that we could live! Our salvation relies solely on the grace of God through faith in Jesus. Anyone who sincerely repents of their sin, and who believes and receives the good news about who Jesus is and what he did, is born again in the Holy Spirit and is adopted by God as a son or daughter. This brings eternal life with God, and new life here on earth.
John 3: 3-5; Acts 2:38, Rom 8:16, Eph 2:8-10; Titus 3:5
Jesus is coming back
We believe Jesus will return. He will establish and new heaven and a new earth. There will be no more pain, sickness, sorrow or death and everything will be made new!
Matt 24:30-31, Thess 4:13-18; Rev 21-22
